  5. the  place  where  you  can  air  your
  6. opinion  on  any  topic you like.  You
  7. can  offer your critisism or praise on
  8. any  part  of  @tcStolen  Data@t5,  is there
  9. anything  you  dont like or would love
  10. to see more in the magazine?.  We also
  11. want  letters  on  any other aspect of
  12. the scene, so take a pen, and write!

  15. The following letter was recieved just
  16. after the release of the last issue of
  17. @tcStolen Data@t5 was released last October.
  18. Though  the letter is quite old I felt
  19. that  it  offered a valuble opinion, I
  20. have  not  included  the whole letter,
  21. but  taken  key extracts from it.  The
  22. whole letter was several sheets long!

  29. writing.    I've   read  your  article
  30. called  "A  Fistful  of Diskmags" some
  31. days  ago  and decided to send you the
  32. latest  @tbHACK-MAG@t5,  and  some  comments
  33. about your article. So lets start.....

  35. First  some  comments on your @tbHACK-MAG@t5
  36. review..

  38. @t6(1)@t5.  You wrote "A rather lazily drawn
  39. picture  leads"  you  to  the magazine
  40. itself".   I  think  in  this case you
  41. arn't wrong.  Spider had only the main
  42. object of the title picture ready, so
  43. he  had  to draw a background in a few
  44. minutes.  But nevertheless I think the
  45. picture  isn't bad is it?  By the way,
  46. @#@^@t5
  47. what  about  the  titlepicture  of the
  48. latest  issue (The Terminator).  Don't
  49. tell me that you think that its lazily
  50. draw  too, it's a hell of a picture in
  51. my  opinion,  and  I  want to make one
  52. point  clear,  Spider  doesn't use any
  53. scanners  or  digitizers, all pictures
  54. are  hand  drawn!   Thats one reason I
  55. think  he's  much  better than many of
  56. the artists in the Eurocharts!  Nearly
  57. all  of  them digitize the whole stuff
  58. and  retouch  the picture, thats realy
  59. lame!

  61. @t6(2)@t5.   Under  'Contents'  you wrote "A
  62. whopping  great  230 pages of articles
  63. in  this  outsized issue, there didn't
  64. seem  to  be any flow between this and
  65. the  previous  issues though", Ok, now
  66. you  have  the sixth issue of Hack-Mag
  67. in  your hand, is this flow big enough

  72. Some   Comments   about   'Fistful  of
  73. Diskmags' in general..

  75. @t61.@t5   Look  at  the  right hand border,
  76. Check  the width of your article, some
  77. pages were too wide!

  79. @t62.@t5  What about a rating for the GFX or
  80. music of the mags? Or The intro?

  82. @t63.@t5   Check  your English (should be no
  83. prob'  'coz  you're  English).   There
  84. were   many   easy   mistakes  in  the
  85. article,  read  it  before you release
  86. it?

  88. @t64.@t5 Please write@tb "HACK-MAG"@t5 with the '@tc-@t5'
  89. and  in  capital  letters.  That's not
  90. @#@^@t5
  91. because  we  think  we  are  something
  92. special, but because thats the correct
  93. way to spell it.

  95. 5.   As  your rating goes from 0-100 I
  96. think it's realy lame to give @tcZine@t5 and
  97. @t7I.C.E@t5  the same amount of points!  The
  98. scale  is  so prescise that you should
  99. make  a  decision which mag is better.
  100. The're  mustn't  be  two mags with the
  101. same rating!

  104. Some  things  you  should  improve  in
  105. '@tcStolen Data@t5':-

  107. (1).    Please   keep  the  'Table  of
  108. Contents'  in  the memory because it's
  109. really not comfortable for the user to
  110. wait   while  the  Amiga  is  loading.
  111. Think  about  it!   (Look at the other
  112. @^
  113. mags, they have it in memory!)

  115. (2).    Check  the  right  border  (as
  116. above).
  117.  
  118. (3).  Go on making funny articles like
  119. 'Interesting Facts'!

  126. letter and well chosen words!  I think
  127. the  best way to answer your points is
  128. to  take  each  separetly.   Well, I'm
  129. glad  you  agreed  with  me  about the
  130. picture  by  @tbSpidey@t5,  I  just  gave my
  131. opinion  of  what  was  a  pretty poor
  132. picture.  'The Terminator' however was
  133. much  better,  but  do you think it is
  134. @#@k378,030,05@^@t5
  135. fair to accuse "nearly all" artists in
  136. the  Eurocharts  of  digitizing?   The
  137. occasional  overflow  of  text  on the
  138. right  hand  border  was caused by the
  139. font,  not  all letters were of equall
  140. size,  so  a  78  column text file was
  141. sometimes   prone  to  overflow.   Why
  142. can't  I  give @teI.C.E@t5 and @teZine@t5 the same
  143. overall  points?   It's my opinion and
  144. my  reviewing  system,  so  if  I like
  145. those   two  editions  of  those  mags
  146. equally,  why   can't    I  rate  them
  147. equally?  Look in your games reviewing
  148. mags, you will see many games with the
  149. same percentage, are you going to tell
  150. all  those  game  magazines that there
  151. can't be  two  games  as  good as each
  152. other? 
  153. My  English should be good because I'm
  154. English? Who told you this fairy tale?
